THE ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN was intended as something of a ‘comeback’ film for Warner Bros. resident ‘bad boy’, combining the valorous elements of ‘ROBIN HOOD’ and ‘THE SEA HAWK’ with Flynn’s well-established (by 1948) reputation as a hell-raising womanizer. Unfortunately, the color production was not a box office hit, but the amusing adventure is today embraced by his many fans as one of his best roles!

It was not an easy film to make; despite Flynn’s initial attempts to be punctual and a cooperative, he eventually ‘fell off the wagon’, and his carousing and frequent disappearances stretched the filming out by months, forcing frequent reshooting. Director Vincent Sherman, cinematographer Elwood Bredell, and editor Alan Crosland often had to ‘cut-and-paste’ snippets of many takes to accomplish a decent performance from the star, and careful lighting had to be ancient to play down the increasingly distinct effects of the star’s hedonistic lifestyle. (The closing scene, featuring then-wife Nora Eddington, was shot nearly a year before the remainder of the film, and the change in the Flynn’s physical appearance is clearly evident.) At 38, the star, who always hated being called a ‘pretty boy’ (to the extent that his home had few mirrors) was aging fleet, and badly.
All this being said, Flynn tried to give the film his best he could. It had been a landmark film for his friend/mentor John Barrymore, in the first Warners’ film with sound, employed for music and special effects only, in 1926 (THE JAZZ SINGER would introduce ‘talkies’ a year later) . It reunited him with friend and frequent costar Alan Hale, who, at 56, was composed a current character actor, and whose son, Alan Jr., was starting to create his trace around town (he would eventually be best known as the Skipper in ‘Gilligan’s Island’) . The script for DON JUAN passed through many hands, including uncredited relieve by William Faulkner and Robert Florey, with the ruin result being marvelously droll, tongue-in-cheek, and swashbuckling, to boot! The accept, by the legendary Max Steiner, became an instant classic, and would be reused, years later, in George Hamilton’s ZORRO, THE Glad BLADE. This was a film which, despite Errol Flynn’s self-destructive lifestyle, had enough talent alive to to composed stand up as one of the better films of the 1940s.

The state involves roué Don Juan, tossed out of England after breaking up a ‘diplomatic’ wedding (a VERY comic scene), returning home to Spain to net putrid Duke de Lorca (the sublimely despicable Robert Douglas) controlling used King Phillip, and taxing the population to come starvation, with only the elegant Queen Margaret standing in his device. Flynn snappily dispatches a de Lorca press gang, earning the Count’s hatred, and the Queen’s attention…and Don Juan finds himself truly falling in care for, for the first time, with the youthful monarch (played by the dazzling Viveca Lindfors) . Assigned as a fencing master at the Academy, the legendary lover draws the ire of the Queen by stating his feelings for her, then is manipulated into another disastrous diplomatic blunder, spicy, of course, another woman. On the urge, he discovers de Lorca’s ultimate intention (manipulating the Crown into war), and with the assist of the students of the Academy, he must set aside the King and Queen.
Featuring a broad early appearance by Raymond Burr (as a de Lorca henchman), and a stirring final duel between Flynn and Douglas (expanded from the 1926 version, and featuring an astounding climactic stairway jump, performed by stuntman and future ‘Tarzan’ Jock Mahoney), THE ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN is a gloriously adventuresome romp. Sadly, it didn’t assign Flynn’s flagging career, but it certainly has earned a site among his classic films!
“The Adventures of Don Juan” was Warner Brothers’ last tremendous investment in Errol Flynn. Their resident poor boy had long ago dilapidated up any goodwill he might have had with the studio — goodwill based primarily on Flynn’s power at the box office. But in the leisurely 1940s, Errol Flynn’s star was on the wane, and the studio was beginning to select a hard and skeptical examine at their one-time box office bonanza.

In an attempt to rekindle some of the ragged fire, Warner Bros. produced “The Adventures of Don Juan,” in which Flynn plays the title role. His Don Juan is world-weary, a man for whom all the loves and swordfights and scandals are beginning to wear him a bit thin. But the most compelling aspect of this Don Juan’s character is his sense of humor. Flynn brings a droll, tongue-in-cheek element to the character that is extraordinarily piquant.
The film is lush and well-appointed. There are times when Flynn shows the effects of years of hard drinking and womanizing, but for the most fragment he is strikingly shapely. Stunt doubles were former extensively for him, particularly in the final duel scene. In the shot where Don Juan leaps down a long staircase and lands on top of the villain, future “Yancey Derringer” star Jock Mahoney performed the leap.
“Don Juan” did poorly in the United States and fabulously well in Europe. Its frigid reception at home convinced Warner Brothers that Flynn was no longer a bankable commodity, and considerably less money was spent on his films in the few years he had left under his contract.

But in the intervening years, “The Adventures of Don Juan” has earned a ample following among Errol Flynn admirers and movie buffs as well. It is a broad, droll and thoroughly delectable jaunt with the King of the Swashbucklers, and one that should not be missed.

What can one say about this film. I judge this Delmer Daves’ masterpiece. It was the first of four productions that teamed Daves and Troy Donahue (Parrish, Susan Slade and Rome Adventure followed) .Troy Donahue was never notorious for any grand acting prowess, but he did describe the last breed of the innocent clean-cut naive teenager. This was Donahue’s strong point and Daves broken-down that persona expertly and effectively to extract the longing for the eternal youthful spirit in all of us. That is why this film is so viewable to this day. To paraphrase Richard Egan’s character in the film: Our only purpose is to treasure and be loved. That is what this film is all about. Visually it is breathtakingly and lushly photographed by Harry Stradling. The dialog is juxtaposed between crisp witty cynicism at times and then lovely tender passages of poetic expressions of treasure. The Max Steiner bag and esteem theme have become interwoven into our everyday society as effectively as they mirrored the emotions of the characters in this film. The tale at its most basic level is one of adultery and teenage like canvassed on an island on the Maine flit. However, the motivations and the ramifications of the characters’ actions accelerate noteworthy deeper. The expert cast includes Richard Egan, Dorothy McGuire, Sandra Dee, Constance Ford, Beulah Bondi and the actors’ actor Arthur Kennedy. This film was based on the Sloan Wilson modern. This is one of my celebrated films. I highly recommend it. The VHS copy is very profitable.
DVD please? I saw this movie when it aired on A&E, and it captivated me as a child, and unexcited does as an adult. The theme song is spacious, and I aloof gain myself listening to it!!! I became a fan of Sandra Dee’s after I saw her in “Gidget” and “Imitation Of Life” and I view her performance was so accurate and heart-wrenching. Constance Ford, as her bitchy, controlling mother Helen, gives a strong portrayal of a bitter, frosty, sorrowful woman who takes her peril out on everyone around her, even her daughter. (She really gives Mommie Dearest a accelerate for her money) . The scene where she forces Molly to submit to a pelvic exam after she and lover-boy Johnny (the slack Troy Donahue) have an accident on the beach (the boat capsizes) is base and makes the viewer grimace. The fact that the doctor was customary and depraved looking, and began to unbutton Molly’s blouse without her consent, as she screamed, “Oh please, no, I want my father! I’ve been a excellent girl! I haven’t done anything noxious!!” makes it glum, but it also makes you disapprove Ford’s character, as I’m definite that was the scheme. Richard Egan as Molly’s father Ken, is so splendid and gentle at times (he was equally effective in Walt Disney’s “Pollyanna” as Dr. Chilton) is a man who is trapped in a loveless marriage who finds and falls in care for again with Dorothy McGuire, as Sylvia, his first admire, who also happens to be the mother of Molly’s boyfriend, Johnny!!! One of Egan’s best lines is as he and Helen are having an explosive argument. Ken finishes off his demolish by saying, “Why must you express on making sex itself a filthy word!” Arthur Kennedy, as Johnny’s drunken father Bart was one of the actor’s best later performances. The conflict between the two couples and the quandary that follows (Molly becomes pregnant by Johnny) was considered provocative for its day, but considering how microscopic is shown, you have to wonder what all the fuss was about!!! (Although the “King Kong” reference could hold some debate on that subject) . The argument between Molly and her mother at the beginning of the movie, sums up the times and also, in a draw, the relationships between mothers and daughters. Molly: “Daddy, do I have to? ” Ken: “Do you have to what? ” Molly: “Wear this middy blouse to shore like a twelve-year-old! And she says I have to wear this armor-padded bra to flattenme out and a girdle! This thing even hurts, and I couldn’t squeeze into this girdle with dynamite!”

Movie Title: The Color of Magic The Color of Magic is available for streaming or downloading. |
This is the second attempt to acquire a movie out of a Terry Pratchett recent and it succeeds rather well. In this case, the movie is based on the first two novels in the ‘Discworld’ series, ‘The Colour of Magic’ and ‘The Light Fantastic’.

Rincewind (David Jason), an inept wizard, is expelled from Unseen University. On a dare, he snuck a inspect at the Octavo, the book aged to beget the world, and one of the eight vast spells lodged in his head.
At the same time, Twoflower (Sean Astin) arrives in Ankh-Morpork to “sight at it”. He’s the Discworld’s first tourist and he travels with the Luggage, a box made of sapient pearwood that moves about on hundreds of exiguous legs and will follow it’s owner everywhere.
After conning Twoflower, Rincewind is dragged to the Patrician’s palace and ordered by Lord Vetinari (Jeremy Irons) to guide Twoflower safely through the city.

Twoflower, introducing the conception of fire insurance to Ankh-Morpork, inadvertently causes the entire city to burn down and he and Rincewind dash and Rincewind is plunged into several life threatening situations which he survives by sheer luck.
The beneficial parts of this movie are Jeremy Irons as the Patrician and Tim Curry as Ymper Trymon, second in narrate of one of the eight orders of wizardry at the university. Both play their roles with savor and Curry’s performance is as trustworthy, if not better, than that of Cardinal Richelieu in ‘The 3 Musketeers’.
The awful parts? Well, a lot of the edifying scenes in both novels are left out. There is no travelling shop, no Hrun the Barbarian, no flying rock and no Tethis the sea troll. There is also no gingerbread cottage or broomstick flying.
Also, they unfortunately chose a white actor to report Twoflower, when it’s made sure in both ‘The Colour of Magic’ and ‘Interesting Times’ that Twoflower is Chinese. A exact shame, but Sean Astin does a astounding job at portraying Twoflower’s attitude of looking at the world through rose coloured glasses.
And they got Cohen the Barbarian’s (David Bradley) teeth gross.
Although this movie takes a while to accept going, it does fetch funnier as it goes along and there are some titanic one-liners. “I am having a advance Rincewind experience.”
Christopher Lee reprises the mumble of Death, as he did in the appealing versions of ‘Soul Music’ and ‘Wyrd Sisters’ and he has some of the best parts in the movie.
Aside from the tiny annoyances, the movie is quite gracious, the actors are safe, it’s got all the wittiness you’d inquire from Pratchett, and I loved it.
A live-action Terry Pratchett movie is either doomed to fail in every arrangement, or succeed in practically everything.
And “The Colour of Magic,” adapted from the first two novels in Pratchett’s shining Discworld series, is more the primitive than the latter. This one is no “Hogather” — it has rather gradual direction at times — but it preserves Pratchett’s wry satirical sense of humour. And of course, it’s all about a mercenary, cowardly failed wizard.
Rincewind (David Jason) is ejected from the Unseen University, on the very day that Twoflower (Sean Astin) arrives with his many-legged Luggage. He’s advance to the Disc… to “gawk at it.” But after Rincewind tries to con Twoflower, the Patrician (Jeremy Irons) orders Rincewind to be the guide/bodyguard of the Disc’s first ever tourist.
After a massive fire sweeps through the city, the two waste up fleeing Ankh-Morpork and running into all sorts of strange things — a very assertive magic sword, a floating island burly of see-through dragons, a dramatic dragonlady in a leather bikini, astrozoologists trying to resolve Mountainous A’Tuin’s gender, the veteran Cohen the (retired) Barbarian, druids, and even getting thrown certain off the Disc in a uncommon spacecraft. And you plan YOU had problems.
Unfortunately the Unseen University is having troubles of its hold — the magical book Octavo is acting peculiar, and power-hungry Trymon (Tim Curry) is scheming against the Archchancellor. Even worse, a weird red star has appeared in the sky, and the world is facing destruction. The only thing that can build it is the spell in Rincewind’s head.
Perhaps it’s because it’s based on the first, roughest Discworld books, but “Colour of Magic” is not quite as silly or tightly-written as its predecessor, “Hogather.” The writing is not quite as complex or as witty, and the direction sometimes feels a bit late (such as the bar fight scene, or Trymon skulking and schemind around the University) .
But despite these drawbacks, “Colour of Magic” is mild a vastly challenging narrative — it has a solid plotline and it chugs away nicely after a somewhat indolent beginning, and blossoms into full-out complexity about halfway through. Once it gets underway it starts to resemble a road-trip through fantasy-land, with our quirky tourist and wizard bungling their procedure across the Disc.
Along the contrivance there’s some fun action (an upside-down duel), funny dialogue (”You weren’t born with a mysterious birthmark in the shape of a crown, were you? “), and a general air of tongue-in-cheekness. Best of all, it’s a fantasy spoof — Vadim Jean preserves Pratchett’s clever satire aimed at the staples of your average fantasy: fantasy babes, prophecies, magic swords, retired barbarians, distinguished artifacts, and even the understanding of reality warping itself to do the “hero.”
Jason is wonderfully snivelly and sour as Rincewind, a failed wizard who basically finds himself repeatedly swept up into bizarre, deadly circumstances even though he didn’t want to be eager. Astin is even better as the hilariously oblivious Twoflower, who regards every wretchedness as yet another spacious adventure (”We’re going to race out of world!” “I have to sight that!”) .
And there’s a talented supporting cast — Curry chews the scenery with sneering aplomb, Karen David plays a humorously over-the-top dragon-lady, and Irons has a petite but extraordinary role as the cool, efficient Vetinari. And of course, the colorful Christopher Lee takes over as an increasingly disappointed Death.
“Colour of Magic” isn’t as tightly directed as it could have been, but it serene manages to be clever and quite droll.

Not easily impressed… but I am now![]()
Working in the computer industry for over 25 years, I’m not easily impressed. Two quad-core processor, 8 GB of RAM and 2.5 TB of storage in a home pc… nice, but just “more of the same”.
Most of the computer innovation of the last couple of years has been “more, faster and bigger”, but nothing revolutionary.
However, the new MediaSmart EX495 is truly amazing: the speed, the capacity, but more importantly: the ease-of-install, and ease-of-use that DON’T “handycap” the “power user”, are fabulous.
I had the server up and running in a few minutes. It’s now supporting 6 users, 1 MediaSmart Connect x280n (why did they stop making that!?), and 1 Roku M500. I added a second 1.5-TB hard drive and have already filled almost half of the total capacity (25,000 songs, 28,000 pictures, 600 videos, and loads of other stuff). This includes doubling almost every directory (I like this feature over Raid 1 as it provides much more flexibility), and backups of all PCs. The most impressive was how it enables external (secure) access by directly interacting with the router to open/forward the right ports. And it was immediately successful.
Still to do: connect a USB cable to my UPS and try to set up graceful shut down.
Idiot proof…even for an idiot like me![]()
This little guy got delivered by Amazon a few days before it’s original release. I am not much of a directions guy, but was extremely pleased with how easy this was to set up and how intuitive it was when it came to setting it up. I’ve got 1 workstation, 2 netbooks, and 2 laptops that backup wirelessly to this guy. If they are already on the same wireless network, it’s simply a matter of clicking the ‘add computer’ button. There’s no need to fuss with any of the backup settings unless you are particular, as it will do the work automatically for you. You can then either access your files via the console or remotely at your convenience.
I can’t stress enough how nice and convenient it is to be able to centrally access all my files without having to shuffle files back and forth between the local hard drives and having piece of mind knowing it’s being backed up automatically. I previously did this with Time Capsule which while it worked at times, was tempermental and slow. I’m not sure how well this will work on Mac, but I am running various flavors of XP and Vista in 32bit and 64bit configs.
I even decided to add another storage drive (Seagate Barracude 1.5tb 7200rpm)for redundancy. Adding storage was a simple as pulling out an open drive bay, popping in the new drive, then going into the management console to click through the add storage wizard which took less than a minute. Now I’ve got 2.6tb’s of storage, more than I’ll probably ever need and 2 open bays to expand down the road.
Useful and solid quality – for the committed user ~ Rev. May 2010![]()
I’m technically inclined, but not an engineer. I have some experience with this topic… I first built my own server with spare parts and run it at my home. I am reviewing this because I bought it for my parents and installed it.
Preface – as of 2010, I’ve seen a lot of heartache about Mac Compatibility. Please, do some research before purchasing this product for a Mac to see if this will fit your needs. There is a TON of outside forum support about this. Otherwise my original review still stands:
Part 1: The software, and what HP brings to the party:
Windows Home Server is actually a program (based on Windows Server 2003 with enhancements, optimized and pre-configured), and is easy to use in a home. And it is good, all by itself. HP’s contributions by adding on its own ‘add-ins’ make the software better.
As a sample of what this means for you, an example: If you are recording tv shows on in Windows 7 media center you can offload your shows here, and still stream them giving you instant access anytime. The new update to the software also makes it so you can set windows 7 up to offload your recordings from your Windows 7 pc to the server automatically so you don’t tie up your computer’s storage space. If you want to take a look at what that kind of pc setup might look like, just search listmania for “htpc build”; I’m the first search hit.
So what does HP bring to this? If you have media files that you want to convert for viewing on a mobile device, HP bundled an add-in transcoding software on this so you can offload that work to server’s CPU and not tie up your computer while you’d rather be surfing or playing games or whatever else you do to make things better. There are a lot more add-ins they bundle with this, but it’s exhaustive and there isn’t the space.
Bottom line, there are plenty of ‘WHS’ solutions. But my take is that HP has put a lot behind making this a great software bundle, and I have to say I’m impressed with the bonus they bring (and I’m picky about this stuff).
Part deux: What’s so great about the hardware.
The pictures make it look big. But it is small – about the size of a small bread box turned on end. I was surprised when I unboxed it. It’s also easy to add hard drives. It comes with one, but you’ll get hooked and want to add one. Just take out a tray, pop in a recent generation “SATA II” drive and replace the tray in the server and it self configures. I recommend buying one straight away anyway because then you can turn on ‘file duplication’. That means the server at your specific direction will keep duplicate copies of folders you select on two separate hard drives in the server as insurance against mechanical failure.
You can also back up the system drive, which I’m learning how to do, and you need an external USB drive to do that.
Energy-wise It pulls about 4 to 6 watts under normal operation. Yet another reason to buy this if you are power conscious. Don’t let that figure fool you. There’s plenty of hardware oomph for most people’s needs.
Part Three – Documentation.
There is a lot of documentation! Just not in the box that comes with the server. WHS started out of a user community/company initiative that blossomed into a server software product that now you are seeing hardware being made for. So, if you aren’t sure if this is for you – please take a look online about what other uses this is for and what alternatives are out there.
Summary:
Good build, solid software, continuous integration to Windows backed by a very committed enthusiast community that makes it so you don’t have to think ‘what if my hard drive crashes/computer shorts out/child vandalizes my computer?
It’s automated and low/no maintenance. For a commited user: a ‘no-brainer’. For someone who needs to purchase tech support from a computer vendor, I suggest that a home server is not likely a good fit for you. You are probably better off with an online backup service for your needs.
I like this one because it has extra drive bays. There are configurations that just use one hard drive, but I would pass on that.
If you are buying an add on drive, a Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 3.5 Inch, 32 MB Cache, 7200 RPM SATA II WD1001FALS should work just fine.
Cheers.
Stream Rounders Online
There are two types of people watching Rounders: those who play poker and those who don’t. If you can identify in any arrangement with Matt Damon in this movie, it’s going to captivate you. If you’re not a card player… you can probably forget it.
Mike McDermott (Damon) is a professional poker player and a law school student, in that order. One night, in an attempt to raise the capital for a perambulate to Las vegas to play in the World Series of Poker, McDermott loses his whole bankroll, $30K, to the owner of his well-liked underground card club, Teddy KGB (John Malkovich) . The next day, he swears off cards, but we glean the feeling he does so in order to retain his relationship with Jo (Gretchen Mol) alive. His settle is shaken, and fleet detroyed, when his best friend growing up, Worm (Edward Norton), is released from prison, and McDermott soon finds himself serve at the table.

This movie succeeds on a number of levels, and surprisingly so. Of course, many of those levels have to do with cards, and if (as I said) you’re not enchanted, or at least obsessed, with the non-luck aspects of any game of chance, it’ll probably bore you stiff. But even if you’re only a weekend (or rarer) player at the card table, the horse track, or the stock market, you’d do well to listen to Damon’s voiceovers throughout the movie, which have loads of salubrious information (and mirror things I’ve been telling novice horseplayers for years) .
Buy,Download, Or Stream Rounders! Click Here
Other than that, the insights into relationships, and the ways obsession can ruin them, are profound. Well, okay, maybe not profound, but handled with gobs more subtlety and wit than I’ve seen in unbiased about forever. Mol isn’t really onstage long enough to give her any precise chemistry with Damon, but steal it from me, the ways they react to one another throughout the film are tiresome on. More importantly, both to the dwelling and to the success of the movie, is the relationship between McDermott and Worm. Edward Norton proves once again he’s one of Hollywood’s lawful rising talents, and the deeper motivations that drive his character are exposed impartial well enough that we can peep them. Not an easy task, and one clear to be uncovered if the actor doesn’t understand those motivatins and the viewer does.
The other main aspect of the film is the suspense during the steady card games. Another thing that’s not easy to pull off, and often (most recently in the Gibson/Foster remake of Maverick) the director resorts to insane, next-to-impossible combinations of cards to gain it work. (Remember the final game in Maverick? ) In the first scene, when Teddy KGB nails McDermott, the winning hand is a beefy house. Welcome to the dependable world of poker, where oftentimes it’s the guy holding the two pair that ends up forty broad richer at the destroy of the night. Dahl realizes, repeatedly, that it’s not the cards in the hand that provide the action, it’s the device the characters react to one another. One almost thinks that Dahl could have pulled this movie off by putting Damon, Norton, Malkovich (without the cheesy accent), John Turturro, and two or three of the other cardplayers around a table and shot two hours of one game.
I contain the unusual DVD of this film. Certainly I hesitated to consume a second copy of the essentially same movie, but(…) I view I’d assume a chance. The main feature remains the same, so if you are in the same position as I was, you’ll be paying for the extra features. In short, the extras certainly compose it worthwhile to bear this edition, whether or not you acquire the unique.

1. If you play poker already, “Heads Up Texas Bear ‘Em” won’t aid you. (I bet you suspected that already.)
2. The two bonus features, “Behind-The-Scenes Special” and “Inside Professional Poker”, are short at 5′20″ and 5′40″ respectively. The obsolete is a minute disappointing; it appears that the cast and the staff simply talk about the movie retrospectively after the production. In other words, it looks and feels like an afterthought. The latter is a puny more satisfying; it gives some eminent (to regular poker players) principles of poker. The soundtracks are very annoying.
3. Champion Poker Tips gives a few sound-bite tips from Johnny Chan, Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, Phil Hellmuth, and Chris Moneymaker. Again, if you play poker already, there is nothing unusual here.

4. Now, these professional players are featured in the extra commentary. Mr. Whear characterized this commentary as “weird,” but I notion this was the best allotment of this Collector’s Edition. The comments they create are sometimes off the wall, but it unbiased adds to the charm (to me, anyway) . They analyze the hand Mike McD loses to Teddy KGB at the beginning of the movie, and also the showdown at the end; their analysis is ample, and they define how (and why) things will be quite different in the staunch life. Also, the commentary shows the characters of these pros. Hellmuth is usually the motor mouth; Chan is the overjoyed guy, but complains about how stout he appears in the film; Moneymaker seems a diminutive reserved around the others; Ferguson is blooming serene, but when he speaks he is colorful (he even cracks a joke) .
5. Staff’s commentary gives some insight into the production of the film, including the real-world model of Teddy KGB (it turns out he is Eddie KGB in dependable life) . This commentary is also profitable.
What was on the unique DVD edition that is missing on this edition is the theatrical trailer. You might wonder why I bring this up. Well, the trailer contains a couple of scenes that didn’t build the chop. I’m positive these could have been added as deleted scenes, too. For that, I subtract 1 star.

To meet user demands for a fast EF-S zoom lens, Canon has specially designed a new lens with a large aperture of f/2.8 for select Canon Digital SLR cameras. The large circular aperture produces a shallow depth-of-field, creating background blur that draws attention to the photographic subject. The lens construction includes UD and aspherical elements, which deliver impressive image quality throughout the entire zoom range. Image Stabilizer lens groups shift to compensate for camera movement so that the image appears steady on the image plane, ensuring clear, crisp images, even in dim light. With a Ring-type USM, inner focusing and new AF algorithms, this lens achieves autofocus quickly and quietly, and with full-time mechanical manual focusing, manually adjusting the focus is possible even in AF mode.

Customer Reviews:
No brainer![]()
My parents are both in their 80’s and both are victims of strokes. It is inconceivable that they could communicate with the grandkids via webcam because they simply cannot use a computer and telephone does not allow me to visually ‘check up on them’. Enter ‘The Ojo’ as we have come to affectionately call it. My Mom who has significant diminished mental abilities from her stroke to our surprise learned on her own to call us with their ojo (press two buttons and that’s it)! In fact, it’s easier to use in my opinion than a standard telephone…even my [...]calls Pappy and Grand-ma on her own. Seems like setting it up is the biggest fear (all of my family and even cousins now have ojo’s) because it is ‘new fangeled’ but the customer support that I received is second to none; they really love their product. I’ve not heard anything negative from my family either about set-up or service. I think it took about 20 minutes from opening the box to total set up. If you have family/friends in far away places, it’s really a no brainer…these things are the future. Also, when I purchased ours, I did search the internet for competitors but found ojo to be the best design and easiest to use. It’s been sometime since then so I don’t know what’s on the market now but have no incentive to look around as we are completely satisfied. The ability to leave or receive a video message just like a voice mail is also really neat. Imagine coming home and SEEING your grand kids sing happy birthday to you! Priceless!
The Ojo is the most awesome invention! I love it!![]()
I have been so excited and amazed by this product that I have spent the last several days dragging friends and neighbors into my office to see this wonderful phone in operation. I am buying two more, one for home & another for my Eastern Shore office.
I wish I had bought this phone earlier. My Mom would have loved it. I live in Maryland and Mom lived in NC with Daddy until she died in August(after 49 years together.) I found out about the Ojo and bought two of them. Now I can see Daddy several times every day and he is very comfortable with using the Ojo. It is almost as though I am in the room with him. It has given me so much peace of mind, that I can’t say enough good things about this product. Worldgate has an incredible staff of helpful people that have spent time to help us get the phones set up. I find it very impressive that if I call for help or with a question, I reach an actual person and I don’t have to spend forever on hold. Whenever I call I get an answer! I do not know how this company sells the Ojo for such a low price, and the service plan costs almost nothing (especially when I compare it to the ridiculous price that I pay for monthly service on my Motorola Q cell phone.)
I didn’t realize this product was on the market or I would have bought it years ago. I think that it will be great for my business. I am a lawyer with offices 115 miles apart. Now clients coming into either office can actually see me.
I can’t imagine anyone not wanting an Ojo, or maybe two or three. So if you are reading this review and trying to decide whether to buy one or not, just buy it. You will love it, and your friends and neighbors will ooh and ahh over it, which alone makes the purchase worthwhile.

DON’T BUY THIS ITEM – WORLDGATE WENT OUT OF BUSINESS![]()
Worldgate went out of business, so if you buy the phone, you can’t use it without the monthly service.

Just watched the first disc and was VERY disappointed that “The Harlem Globetrotters First Christmas” cartoon was left off the Christmas present. The TV Funhouse Christmas prove is my popular Christmas note of all time, but the DVD region is missing this capable blasphemous cartoon. I idea I would finally be able to lose the DVD I burned of the Christmas present off cable, but now it looks like I’d better retain it commercials and all. It’s a pity they would do this and query people not to watch. For this reason alone I subtract two stars.
Tv funhouse was my popular explain when it was on and I really miss it. I have no understanding why it was cancelled but i wish comedy central would achieve it encourage on. The christmas episode is my approved with the vegas hobble not far gradual. There are some gigantic cartoons as well like Wonderman and Oprahs boyfriend Steadman. Hillarious present that ended long before it was time. Dont miss this!
